AI for the teacher — preparation, productivity and your own learning

Often the safest and highest-value first use of AI is not live classroom use but teacher preparation. AI can reduce routine workload and return time for the human parts of teaching: relationships, explanation, encouragement, judgement and feedback.

Productivity that frees time for teaching
  • Drafting worksheets, examples or practice questions.
  • Creating differentiated versions for mixed levels.
  • Drafting routine communication that the teacher edits.
  • Summarising long resources for the teacher's planning.
The same rules still apply

Preparation is lower-risk, not no-risk. Verify what AI produces, never enter pupils' personal data, and keep professional judgement. You decide what to use, adapt or discard.

AI for your own learning

AI can help you understand a topic, explore teaching methods or generate practice ideas, but it should not replace your own understanding. Do your own thinking first.
