Teaching it well — access, the shared device and the two rules
The “try” step needs practical craft. A small amount of preparation prevents most classroom problems, and the two rules from Module 1.3 should be visible to pupils during the lesson.
Pre-lesson tech-check
- Device: charged, working, visible and audible.
- Connectivity: internet works, or an offline route is ready.
- App/browser: logged in, loads, and tested in advance.
- Accessibility: captions, text size, printed copy or read-aloud support.
- Privacy and safety: no pupil personal data required.
- Backup: printed or low-tech materials available.
The shared-device classroom
Use teacher demonstration, rotating groups, or printed AI-prepared materials. A good first lesson should not need one device per pupil.
Carry the two rules into the room
Rule 1: AI suggests; a person decides.
Rule 2: Pupils' personal data never goes into a public AI tool.
