AI is human-led — agency, hype and the teacher's role
Used well, AI can help a teacher do more of what matters. It only helps responsibly when a person stays firmly in charge. In education, AI should support professional judgement; it should not replace the teacher, the learner's effort, or the school’s responsibility.
Cutting through the hype
- “AI will replace teachers” is a myth. AI has no relationship with a child, no judgement about a class, and no accountability.
- “AI is magic” is a myth. AI predicts patterns from data. It can be powerful, but it is still a tool.
- “AI is always right” is a myth. It can be biased, incomplete, or confidently wrong.
What human agency means
Human agency is the teacher’s power to make deliberate choices: whether to use AI, when to use it, how to use it, and who will be affected. A teacher with agency asks: Does this help my pupils? Is it fair? Is it safe? Could I justify this choice to pupils, parents, and the school?
Protecting pupils’ thinking
Agency also means protecting pupils from over-reliance. If AI does the thinking every time, pupils may complete the task but fail to develop the skill. Use AI to support thinking, not replace it.

सही तरिकाले प्रयोग गर्दा एआईले शिक्षकलाई महत्त्वपूर्ण काममा सहयोग गर्न सक्छ। तर जिम्मेवार प्रयोग त्यतिबेला मात्र हुन्छ जब मानिस स्पष्ट रूपमा निर्णयकर्ता रहन्छ। शिक्षामा एआईले पेशागत निर्णयलाई सहयोग गर्नुपर्छ; शिक्षक, विद्यार्थीको प्रयास वा विद्यालयको जिम्मेवारीलाई प्रतिस्थापन गर्नु हुँदैन।
अतिरञ्जनाबाट बाहिर निस्किने
- “एआईले शिक्षकलाई विस्थापित गर्छ” भन्ने कुरा मिथक हो। एआईसँग बालबालिकासँगको सम्बन्ध, कक्षाकोठाको निर्णय र उत्तरदायित्व हुँदैन।
- “एआई जादु हो” भन्ने कुरा मिथक हो। एआईले डेटाका ढाँचा अनुमान गर्छ। यो उपयोगी हुन सक्छ, तर यो साधन मात्र हो।
- “एआई सधैं सही हुन्छ” भन्ने कुरा मिथक हो। यसले पूर्वाग्रही, अधुरो वा आत्मविश्वासका साथ गलत उत्तर दिन सक्छ।
मानव एजेन्सीको अर्थ
मानव एजेन्सी भनेको एआई प्रयोग गर्ने कि नगर्ने, कहिले प्रयोग गर्ने, कसरी प्रयोग गर्ने र कसलाई असर पर्छ भन्ने कुरामा शिक्षकको सचेत निर्णय गर्ने शक्ति हो। एजेन्सी भएको शिक्षकले सोध्छ: यसले मेरा विद्यार्थीलाई सहयोग गर्छ? के यो न्यायोचित छ? के यो सुरक्षित छ? के म यो निर्णय विद्यार्थी, अभिभावक र विद्यालयसँग स्पष्ट गर्न सक्छु?
विद्यार्थीको सोचाइ जोगाउने
एजेन्सी भनेको विद्यार्थीलाई एआईमाथि अत्यधिक निर्भर हुनबाट जोगाउनु पनि हो। यदि एआईले सधैं सोचाइ गरिदिन्छ भने विद्यार्थीले काम पूरा गर्न सक्छ, तर सीप विकास नगर्न सक्छ। एआईलाई सोचाइको सहयोगी बनाउनुहोस्, प्रतिस्थापन होइन।
