The personal-data red line: recap from M1.1

Never break this rule

Do not enter students’ personal data into public AI tools. Use initials, codes, fictional examples or general descriptions. Use school-approved tools only when sensitive information must be handled.

This is a short recap of the safety rule from M1.1 and the core reading on AI as assistant, not authority. AI may help teachers draft, summarise, translate and organise ideas, but it should not receive private student information unless the school has a clear approved system and data-protection process.

Personal data means information that can identify a learner

This includes full name, photo, address, phone number, roll number linked with name, marks, health information, disability information, family details, private messages, voice recordings, behaviour records, or sensitive classroom incidents.

Safer way to ask AI

Instead of writing:

“Ram Bahadur from Grade 7 scored 32/100 and has been absent often. Write feedback for his parents.”

Write:

“Write a respectful parent feedback note for a Grade 7 student who needs support in mathematics and has irregular attendance. Do not include personal details.”

Quick check

Before using any AI tool, ask: “Could someone identify a student from what I am typing?” If the answer is yes, remove or anonymise the information.

यसमा पूरा नाम, फोटो, ठेगाना, फोन नम्बर, नामसँग जोडिएको roll number, अंक, स्वास्थ्य जानकारी, अपाङ्गता जानकारी, पारिवारिक विवरण, निजी सन्देश, आवाज recording, व्यवहार अभिलेख वा संवेदनशील कक्षा घटना पर्छन्।

एआईलाई सोध्ने सुरक्षित तरिका

यसरी नलेख्नुहोस्:

“कक्षा ७ का रामबहादुरले १०० मा ३२ अंक ल्याएका छन् र उनी बारम्बार अनुपस्थित छन्। उनका अभिभावकका लागि feedback लेख।”

यसको सट्टा यसरी लेख्नुहोस्:

“गणितमा सहयोग आवश्यक भएको र attendance अनियमित भएको कक्षा ७ का विद्यार्थीका लागि सम्मानजनक parent feedback note लेख। व्यक्तिगत विवरण नराख।”
