The AI Ethics Debate — stakeholder role-play

This structured debate builds collective judgement. Participants experience the activity as learners first, then reflect on how they might use a similar debate with pupils.

Stakeholder groups

Tech companies: innovators who build AI tools. Priority: useful and profitable innovation. Tension: progress versus bias, misuse, and regulation.
Governments: regulators protecting the public. Priority: safety and fairness for citizens. Tension: oversight without stopping useful progress.
Educators: teachers and school leaders. Priority: learning support while protecting privacy and well-being. Tension: help versus over-reliance.
Everyday users: pupils, parents, and consumers. Priority: benefit from AI while staying safe, fair, and in control of data. Tension: convenience versus privacy.

How it runs

Prepare — 10 min: each group identifies priority, concerns, benefits, and arguments.
Debate — 15 min: groups present their case and respond to others.
Step back — 10 min: each participant chooses a real AI use and asks: Why is the AI giving this answer? Is it fair? How does it decide? How might it affect others?

Forum post after debate: Write one paragraph: Which perspective was hardest to argue, and what one takeaway will shape your Responsible-AI charter?

Respect rule: Discuss systems, roles, and ethical issues. Do not attack individuals or communities.

गतिविधि कसरी चल्छ

तयारी — १० मिनेट: प्रत्येक समूहले प्राथमिकता, चिन्ता, फाइदा र तर्क तयार गर्छ।
बहस — १५ मिनेट: समूहहरूले आफ्नो पक्ष प्रस्तुत गर्छन् र अरूलाई प्रतिक्रिया दिन्छन्।
पछाडि हटेर सोच्ने — १० मिनेट: प्रत्येक सहभागीले वास्तविक एआई प्रयोग छान्छ र सोध्छ: एआईले यो उत्तर किन दियो? के यो न्यायोचित छ? यसले कसरी निर्णय गर्छ? यसले अरूलाई कसरी असर गर्छ?

बहसपछि फोरम पोस्ट: एक अनुच्छेद लेख्नुहोस्: कुन दृष्टिकोणबाट तर्क गर्न सबैभन्दा गाह्रो भयो, र कुन एउटा सिकाइले तपाईंको Responsible-AI charter बनाउँदा प्रभाव पार्छ?
